Religion is a very funny thing.
Believers will tell you that God is all knowing and all-powerful. They will tell you that God loves you and wants you to be happy, and that he is a loving God.
They will tell you that he loves you like his own children. Hmm.
Believers will tell you that God created everything, the universe, the planets, and all living things.
The Jewish and Christian bibles also say that God already knows who is going to heaven!
Wow.
They also say that life is not predestined and that people have free will and the ability and freedom to choose their own path.
Let me see if I understand this HORSESHIT.
Let’s work our way back up – We have free will and life is not predestined but God already knows who will go to heaven and who will not, EVEN before they are born.

Because we’re not, Mother Nature is WAY too complicated to have been created by a GOD.
Another thing, God gave women Menstrual Cycles because of Eve’s disobedience? Why do animals menstruate? I guess God is pissed off at them too!

Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam and Christianity.
These major religions are very similar they all have a God (supreme being) and they all have a lesser god (messiah, son, god on earth type of person) and they all have prophets and apostle type people along with the great unwashed (us regular folk).

If you have 5 religions all very similar even though there may be some differences, (you know, the ole names have been changed to protect the innocent rule); the whole God concept is exactly the same.
I mean one person cannot come up with the “God idea”, the creator of all things; and then several hundred if not thousands of years later someone else comes up with the God idea, the creator of all things; and claims it to be the TRUTH. My GOD is the REAL one! Even if he did come along after yours!
Okay so if we truly grasp that whole original and copy concept then if there really is only one God then there really can only be one religion, and THAT has to be the first! The original. All the rest are just copies. No matter what your mother says!
In this case it could be Hinduism as that is the oldest written religion known. However that may not even be true and probably isn’t because there probably were many more “religions” civilizations and the like that we don’t even know about.
Still some older civilizations that we do know about came along before the Hinduism faith, they just did not have a written (at least the way we view written); language.
For example: Sumerians were here thousands of years before all of our so-called Gods were.
They in fact did have an organized and detailed history that goes back thousands of years. It’s just not written language but rather pictographs and if you want to get really freaky the Sumerian tablets rather accurately describe the Earth and the planets in our Solar System. Before telescopes, astronomy, astrology, before napkins!

Vicky there are as many versions of religious stories and interpretations as there are believers, yours is just one of those truths.
First let me give my sincere condolences for the death of your son. Your anger is easy to understand. I don't want to be condescending, but even in the midst of your pain and anger what I hear is someone who desperately WANTS to believe in God. The pain of life makes it hard to have faith that someone out there cares. I find many atheists often start off as believers who some where along the way lost their faith. They feel God has abandoned them so in turn choose to reject God. I am a Christian, and I will pray that you find the answers you are looking for. God does love you and we do have free will. Just because He already knows what decisions we will make doesn't mean we don't still make them. He doesn't decide for us. He wants us to choose him, that’s why he gave us free will and not just preprogrammed robots. Salvation is not withheld from us if we don't "behave". God knows that we are going to mess up. What he asks is that we acknowledge Him and His sacrifice through Jesus Christ. I know this will probably spark frustration, I'm sure you've heard all this before. I'm not trying to antagonize you. I'm a person just like you struggling to find my way also. I find it better to worry less about “religion” and more about a relationship with God. I will pray for you. –One small thing. If you go to the Bible looking to discredit it, then that’s what you will accomplish. Do not harden your heart.

Virgo, you're missing the point, Christianity didn't come first therefore logically it is just a copy of another idea that came before it.
You worship a false GOD, hmm maybe that's why the bible spends so much time telling you not to worship false GODS, reverse psychology and all that blot.
You're basing your argument on the assumption that whoever wrote it down first got it right. Why does that have to be the case. Many ancient cultures had an oral tradition, so just because the history wasn't written doesn't make it false. You seem to have an aptitude for research and facts and I respect that. There is a book called "The Case For Christ" written by a man named Lee Strobel. He was an investigative reporter for the Chicago Tribune. I'm not trying to convert you or force my belief on you, but I think you may find it interesting. Do not harden your heart.
I enjoy debate, and just because I don't believe in God doesn't mean my "heart" is hardened. I simply choose to think with my mind and not my emotions.
Humans are nurtured for so long that they cannot live without the need to be taken care of by some form of "parent", ie father in heaven.
Once you accept responsibility for yourself and realize you cannot defer it to an invisible entity that NEVER saves anyone from anything, you'll begain to grow as a human being.
