Idle Thoughts

Daily musings and demented, psychotic ponderings

I like music a lot, I played guitar most of my life and even was in a band once. I could spend hours playing music by myself or entertaining others. I was good, maybe even pretty good, but never REALLY good. I have 3 Fender Guitars that now have an inch of dust on them. I haven't touched them since March 25, 2001 and I never will again.

Imagine No Day

Imagine no day. When will you wake? Not to worry, you won’t sleep. Those things that can happen to you while you sleep in this new world are far worse than never sleeping.

But wait, sleep deprivation clouds your mind and confuses your thinking which in this constant night will have the same result.

You must keep moving because staying in one place too long gives the dark warriors opportunity.

You must however be quiet because this also alerts the creatures to you.

As you move, every muscle is tightened, every sense heightened and all the while your brain cries out for relief, for sleep, for a warm safe place, which no longer exists.

Your mind races into that familiar fantasy as you move quietly through this dark world. No longer thinking of those human pleasures of the past, your mind now fantasizes about the Sun.

What would it be like to walk in the sunshine once again? To fall asleep in the womb of your safe life and awaken to a bright sunny morning. Once again to hear the noises of life going by, those same noises that used to infuriate you. The smells, those smells of vehicle exhausts, garbage, office supplies, freshly cut grass.

The only noise that remains is the heart beating in your own chest which seems way too loud and the only smell is the adrenalin oozing from your pours as you try ever harder to not be noticed by those things you cannot detect.

You move now in shadows created by the only starshine left in the sky and you dream about all that cheese.

Your eyes are becoming like those of the dark world. You have become night prey in a never-ending night. You have become aware of the wind, even the slightest breeze and which way it’s blowing.

You’re aware of every smell, every noise even those times you feel just a little uncomfortable but are not sure why. You’ve become the hunted and you now must keep moving.

In this new world death comes quickly and in most cases you don’t know its happened until you reach the other side. Those are the good cases.

There are however the bad cases when you not only know it’s coming for you but when you’re taken down you have plenty of time to see how you end. These dark warriors have a way about them, a way that is reminiscent of us, the Hu-mans. We were once at the top of the food chain and as such you can afford yourself the luxury of taking your time to enjoy the simple pleasures of eating a good meal.
